Construction Products
A “Construction Product” means any product which is produced for incorporation in a permanent
manner in works.
It is only when construction products are incorporated in works that their performance becomes
important.
Products must be suitable for construction works (as a whole and in their separate parts),
they must be fit for their intended use and satisfy the following essential requirements where
the works are subject to regulations containing such requirements i.e. UK Building Regulations
Essential Requirements:-
1. Mechanical resistance and stability
2. Safety in case of fire
3. Hygiene, health and the environment
4. Safety in use
5. Protection against noise
6. Energy economy and heat retention.
We work in partnership with our colleagues in Building Control in the Southern Group of Councils and investigate complaints in relation to construction products. We also facilitate manufacturers to ascertain compliance with the C.P. Directive.
