Welcome to Southern Group Environmental Health Committee. My Committee was established in 1973 as part of the last major reorganisation of local government and other public services in Northern Ireland. We are located at Riverside House, Tower Hill Complex, Armagh, a beautiful site situated on the outskirts of our city and which we share with Southern Health and Social Services Board. A small team of officers is also located in Newry.

We are part of a group of Councils which provide our funding and which receive environmental health services in return. The Councils are Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon, Dungannon and South Tyrone and Newry and Mourne.  Each of our Councils provide two elected members to serve on a Joint Committee (Group Committee) which oversees the work that we do.

The Joint Committee is responsible for ensuring that district council environmental health services are fit for purpose and also for advising our local councils on the preparation of their environmental health plans.
